House Refurbishment in Whickham, Gateshead

House Refurbishment in Whickham, Gateshead

The Project

William Kish’s residential clients were looking for a house that would suit modern family living. The aim was to reorganise the internal space and to create a family room and new kitchen that would fit the busy family’s needs.

The client was also interested in introducing a better connection between home and garden. The garden was not only a beautiful space in itself but also showcased the stunning surrounding landscape, which they wanted to view and also use to their advantage in opening up and bringing light into the space.

Other refurbishments and upgrades were made to the family bathroom, ensuite attached to the master bedroom and also the entrance hall, keeping in mind the contemporary design and creating a cohesive stylish welcoming feel throughout the full home.

The Results

The previous family room, while having good light and window space, was under-exploited. It was a small reception room that did not suit the clients needs or family life. The solution to this was the removal of the radiator and adding more window space to the room which then allowed the lovely views to be extended and allow more connection to the garden space.

With classic colours and contemporary design, the kitchen space is modernised and more suited to the family with plenty of space for cooking and guests. Moving refurbishments to the entrance hall and family bathroom, again upgrading the spaces to match the client’s needs.

The bedroom ensuite was improved suiting the client’s aims for an accessible and stylish space that fitted the rest of the home.

William Kish’s services were for the planning and technical design for the property. The project’s overall programme lasted approximately 16 weeks from March 2022 to July 2022.
